Job Details and Description
We are looking for a dedicated individual to call restaurants up and talk to the managers about our website - it's a new online food resource that puts diners and restauranteurs together in an attempt to encourage patronage of local eateries in the economic downturn.
Please read our requirements carefully, and we look forward to working with you if you are creative, adaptable and willing to complete the assignment as stated.
The objective is to get the managers to fill out an online form with details about their restaurant like opening hours, specialty dishes, etc... which we will then upload onto our website. We will provide you with a script so you know what to say.
Payment is based on results, $1 per form completed. We may increase the pay up to $1000 depending on your performance.
You must get 50 COMPLETE forms in 1 month. Otherwise, you will be paid a lesser rate.
It is essential that you speak to the managers before emailing them. You will find that if you merely email without explaining what you're trying to do first, they will just delete your emails or ignore them. Hence, you will not be able to get as many responses and consequently, will not be able to earn as much as if you had spoken to them first. You may choose to email them first then follow up with a phone call. That could work too but it is important to speak to them at some point!
Note: you will not be paid for-
1) getting generic email addresses (unless the manager has no other email address)
2) if you get only either the manager's name or the email address (you must get both)
3) if the restaurant belongs to a group of restaurants, e.g. the Marmalade group, it will be managed by a Marketing executive at the headquarters. In such cases, get the Marketing executive's name, tel, and email address (the manager will usually be able to give it to you), call him/ her and go through the script exactly as you have been doing. The same goes for hotel restaurants that are run by the hotel's Marketing Communications department. Note that for Marketing executives, you must get the office tel numbers where they work, as we want you to have spoken to them first before emailing them. Note that some hotels have tenants as well, i.e. restaurants that are renting space from the hotel but are not run by them. In such cases, you can contact the restaurants directly and speak to the managers.
We will have a short training session where we teach you what to say as well as test you on the above as we want to know that you have read and assimilated it. We will also be able to gauge if you will be suitable for the job as it requires people with a professional and pleasing phone manner.
We reserve the right to terminate your services if we feel that you are not conscientiously applying yourself to the task at hand, although we understand that in the initial period, you may not be as productive as if you had been doing this a while.
We allow you the flexibility of being able to work from home but that also means that you must be accountable and do your part as we cannot possibly check that you are clocking your hours when we cannot see you. Usually, we call restaurants Mon- Sun before and after lunch, from 1030-noon, then 2:30 -7pm (of course, not non-stop), and after dinner, from 10pm till closing.
