Let's Make Christmas Happen In Payatas!

Christmas is the best festive season of the year. With all the nice food (turkey! lamb! chocolate cakes! breads! wine!), the wonderful laughters, all the nice gifts and lovely warmth of our family and friends, christmas is certainly the nicest holiday of the year.

But it really saddens me to find out that MANY YOUNG KIDS living amidst the landfills in Payatas, a place notoriously known for the Smokey Mountain (where all the rubbish all over the city gets dumped there), have little happiness and opportunity like us to celebrate Christmas!

Everyday, these kids literally pick through the mountainous pile of garbage, seeking for burried "treasures" and collecting materials to sell. The little money that they earn from their sad daily routine is barely enough for them to even buy food.

These kids have to surround themselves in despicable conditions, scurrying for smelly garbages which in the long run will erode away their health. It is really sad to know the forms of survival which people has to resort to under such desperation.

There are many forms of disasters and tragedies that happened to the scavengers in Payatas. On 10 July 2000, after a period of heavy rain, a trash slide occurred in the Payatas dump claiming over 200 lives, including many children. The tragic victims were the scavengers and sorters at the dump site and those living in the nearby shanties.

THEY NEED YOUR SUPPORT! HENCE WE HOPE TO APPEAL TO YOU ALL TO SHOW SOME ACTS OF CHARITY AND SUPPORT THIS MOVEMENT!

Currently there are many movements and various supporters trying to make a change at Payatas. In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas. Totedaddy.com is kicking it off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 cash sponsorship. The money raised will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

Furthermore, there are many prominent supporters for this good cause, from footballers (from both Manchester United & Arsenal!), politicians, celebrities, etc.

The Little Christmas Hat Project (Do Charity and Earn at the same time for Christmas!)

Would you all like to do a little bit for the community this season especially during these difficult times?? Do come and give your support for a good cause!

The Little Christmas Hat™ project allows local low/ no income housewives to earn an income to help out with household expenses, thru the production of these Little Christmas Hats from home. In addition, This project has also appointed Singapore's very own SingHealth Foundation as their adopted charity.
For every hat sold, $1 will be donated to the adopted charity!!

In addition, benefits to street sellers
- Street sellers will earn $0.5 per hat sold. The total amount earned will be paid out at the end of the project.
- Street sellers will also get a certificate of participation upon fulfillment of our minimum hours of sales (30 hours), to authenticate their involvement in this social project.
- Be trained, and exposed to the fun of street selling and to accumulate real sales experience.

Working hours/dates are flexible and are as follows:
